It is 2024

It is hard for me to believe that almost four years have passed since I first took office. I started this job during COVID, the middle of a pandemic that crippled our economy and our city.

Since that time, we have stabilized our financial base, eliminating much of the deficits incurred during the pandemic. I have helped create new sources of revenue to help our city grow and begin to restore its reserves. We have more stadium events and profits, updated business license fees, and other increases to the general fund. We have a Super Bowl and World Cup coming to the City in 2026. We have had many improvement to VTA, on-demand transit with Silicon Valley Hopper, and BART coming to Santa Clara.

But I have also fought for transparency and public voice, whether it be for residential projects or policies that were untruthful or outright repressive. My job is to amplify your voice, not to replace it with my own.

And we have some ways to go. The standard request is “Donate, Share, Vote”, but with my final term in sight, I want some of you to also think about running.
